RBI to look for new deputy governor
India’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of India will start looking for a new deputy governor as incumbent KC Chakrabarty is scheduled to retire from the post in April.
Officials have said that public sector bank officials are increasingly lining up for the senior post at the central bank. The candidates are queuing for the interviews before a selection panel on Friday. The hopeful bankers include SS Mundra of Bank of Baroda, KR Kamath of Punjab National Bank, Arun Kaul of UCO Bank, VR Iyer of the Bank of India, TM Bhasin of Indian Bank, Ashwani Kumar of Dena Bank, M Narendra of Indian Overseas Bank and Canara Bank chief RK Dubey.
The panel for the selection include , RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and financial services secretary Rajiv Takru among others. Mr. Chakrabarty was appointed five years ago after the government had to conduct two rounds of interview. The interviews will be conducted on Friday and the results will be announced only after a new government comes to power in the country.
Meanwhile, vacancy of deputy governor following the retirement of Anand Sinha was filled up.
