Raw milk case to impact Department of Agriculture’s workingsOfficials in the US state of Wisconsin have admitted that that case involving a farmer selling raw milk from an unlicensed dairy farm is set to impact the working of the state Department of Agriculture, which is set to review its internal workings and processes.

Secretary Ben Brancel said that it still early to know how the case will impact the activities of the department but added that it will soon begin the process of reviewing its rules and regulations in order to be able to make them more effective. He said that the department is committed to ensuring food safety in the state and in making sure that the products are provided to the customers in a wholesome and approved manner.

Brancel said that he has asked his inspectors to continue work in the state. He added that the inspectors are likely to follow the existing rules and regulations until the review is completed. Whenasked if the state authorities would further peruse the case, he said that a decision will be taken by the Attorney General’s office.

Meanwhile, the guilty dairy farmer Vernon Hershberger has said that he would continue to sell raw milk and products while he was released on bail.
