The Queen calls ‘lights out at Buckingham Palace’ to beat credit crunch

Queen elizabeth IINew York, December 17 : Queen Elizabeth has reportedly set yet another example to beat the economic slump by asking her staff to turn off the lights in empty rooms of Buckingham Palace.

According to British news outlets, the monarch is to continue her efforts to show support through recession and had allegedly ordered chefs to reuse leftovers from banquets.

The Royal had previously urged her grandsons to avoid any public displays of extravagance amid growing unemployment and economic strife, reports the New York Post.

The Queen had herself set mindful examples by cutting down her trip costs, recycling old clothing items rather than investing in a new wardrobe and meeting and helping those affected by the hard-hitting credit crunch.

The Royal, during her October state visit to Slovakia and Slovenia, had worn a dress made out of a fabric she received 20 years ago. (ANI)
