Power failure affects 70% of Venezuela

Power failure affects 70% of VenezuelaAccording to the reports, a major power cut has affected about 70 per cent of the entire Venezuela including its capital Caracas as the country's main power distribution network failed on Tuesday.

The electricity failure also affected traffic lights in the capital city causing traffic jams and also affected the underground transport system. The authorities are working on the issue and power supply is returning in different areas following the blackout. Meanwhile, hundreds of workers were sent home at the time of the power cuts.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the opposition for sabotage to power transmission lines in the country to cause the blackout in the country. He blamed the far-right groups of resuming its electricity strike against the country. Experts have said that the power failure could be because of poor management and the failure to invest in infrastructure instead of a conspiracy of the far right groups.

The authorities have said that it is working to restore power supply and will prioritise transport in Caracas. The country's crucial oil industry was not affected by the blackout as they are power by separate generators.
