Poll: Danes doubt Denmark will qualify for 2010 World Cup finals
Copenhagen - Although Denmark tops the standings in its qualification group for the 2010 World Cup finals, many Danes doubt their team will qualify for the finals, a new survey said Friday.
Only 37 per cent believe Denmark will make it to the finals hosted by South Africa, 35 per cent thought Denmark would fail, while 28 per cent were undecided.
The poll of 1,015 people was conducted by polling company Catinet for Danish news agency Ritzau.
Euro 2004 hosted by Portugal was the latest major championship Denmark qualified for.
"I have a good feeling. Of course I believe we will make it," Denmark coach Morten Olsen told Ritzau in a comment.
"This is not just something I have to say. When I see the qualities we have and if all players achieve their best, then I believe it. But we need to have some luck."
Denmark, on 7 points, shares the lead in its group with Hungary that has played one more game. The group also includes Albania, Portugal, Sweden and Malta.
Denmark was Saturday due to play away to Malta. (dpa)
