Police Seizes 7,500 Pirated Discs Across Mumbai
The anti-piracy alliance between Bollywood and Hollywood studios continues its attempts to nab film pirates with several raids carried out across Mumbai between 18th June 2010 and 20th June 2010.
During the raids over 600 DVDs of Mani Ratnam's Raavan were seized.
On 20th June 2010, a combined group from Cine Copyrights Investigation together with Mumbai Police conducted a raid at a warehouse in Nalasopara, seizing pirated 4864 discs. Two accused were caught during the operation where 314 discs were seized of Raavan along with films such as Rajneeti, Ironman 2, Prince of Persia, Kites, etc.
On 19th June 2010, a joint team of AA Khan Associates and Mumbai Police conducted an operation near Dindoshi Police Station seizing an Activa bike with 300 prints of Friday's release - Raavan. Several DVDs had a 6 in 1 combination of Raavan along with other recently released movies like Raajneeti, Prince of Persia, Kites, Ek Second, Badmaash Company, etc. One accused has been arrested in the raid.
On 18th June 2010, AA Khan and associates together with Mumbai Police carried out a raid on 2 stalls in JB Nagar in Andheri East. 1206 discs were seized and 1 accused was arrested.
The group found DVDs of Rajneeti, Kites, Prince of Persia and others in the raid.
Mr. AA Khan stated, "We are making all efforts to curb piracy across the city. I am glad that the coalition and Mumbai Police are taking concrete steps towards controlling and eradicating this menace." (With Inputs from Agencies)
