Sydney - Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has confirmed he will be at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games in August, officials said Thursday.

Rudd was personally invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao when he visited Sydney in September, but the Australian leader had held off saying whether he would attend or not.

"I will be in Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese government for the opening of the Games," Rudd was reported as saying. (dpa)
