New Delhi: Expressing deep sorrow at the loss of lives and property damage caused by tropical storm ‘Sidr’ in Bangladesh, Indian Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh has showed India’s willingness to help the neighboring country in relief process.

In a note to Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, Mr. Manmohan Singh expressed deepest commiserations of the administration and the Indian people over the natural disaster that taken lives of around 2,000 people in Bangladesh.

Navtej Sarna, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said, “The Prime Minister has expressed great sadness at the loss of lives and damage to property in Bangladesh caused by the hurricane.”

“In his message, the Prime Minister also said that India stands ready to assist in whatever way it can to help in the relief process,” Mr. Sarna added.
