The photographs featuring a seal on the back of a whale, captured by a photographer in New South Wales has led to a sensation online. Experts said that such a sight is rare and not reported so prominently earlier.

"We'd seen some amazing whales coming out of the water, everything was happening so quickly. It was when I went back through the photos that I realized I had actually captured the seal on top of the whale," Malcolm said.

Though the image was initially being questioned and many termed it as fake, Malcolm claimed that he was unaware of the use Photo editing software, and the pictures could be verified using his camera.

Expert on Whales, Geoff Ross of NSW National Parks, said that such sights are rarest of the rare. He said that earlier, a seal was captured running off a killer ferocious whale.

In the present picture, the two could be seen doing exactly the opposite, where the seal hopped on the back of humpback whale, symbolizing friendship.

Experts said that the present season is considered ideal for Whale watching in Eden and continues to the conducive until October. Most humpbacks are visible in the present season, they said. They then tread towards the Antarctica.

The photographs also featured some of the whales feeding on the moving fish in the sea. Malcolm said that this was a life-changing experience for him.
