Shoaib suffers strain injury, doubtful to play in first ODI against W. Indies

Shoaib AkhtarDubai, Nov 12: Chances are bleak for Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar to play in the first ODI against West Indies today, after he suffered a Side Strain Injury here on Tuesday evening during practice session.

Sources confirmed that the fast bowler suffered a right calf injury during training session.

Shoaib Akhtar was the centre peace of Pakistan team, but now his participation in the first ODI is doubtful, the Daily Times quoted a Geo News report as saying.

Shoaib AkhtarKarachi, Oct 27: Despite fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s dismal performances in the ongoing domestic tournament Pentangular Cup and the Twenty20 event in Toronto earlier this month, the country’s chief selector Saleem Jaffer, himself a former pacer, has exuded confidence in the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ saying he was pushing hard to get back into the team, and that the selectors would give him enough time to regain the lost form.

The Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar will make a comeback, as the player Rawalpindi Express’ Is Back!was named in a 15-man Pakistan squad, for the T20 Canada tournament which will take place amongst four nations in Toronto this month.

Shoaib who was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for five years can now play for his nation as the ban was temporarily lifted by the Lahore High Court. The paceman has not been able to play this year due to PCB’s decision. 

PCB Allows Shoaib To Play National 20-20 Championship

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included the name of controversial fast bowler PCB Allows Shoaib To Play National 20-20 ChampionshipShoaib Akhtar, in a list of 15- member team for the National Twenty20 Championship starting from October 4. 

However, the dispute over the payment of Rs 7 million fine imposed on the fast bowler has still not being cleared by the board.
