Islamabad, Mar 14: Pakistan’s Information Minister Sherry Rehman resigned following differences over government’s handling of the electronic media and insistence by President Asif Zardari and his close aides to impose further restrictions on private news channels.

Rehman was against the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)’s blocking of a private TV channel without taking her into confidence

Islamabad, Mar 3 : Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman has strongly condemned the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, and said it is an attempt to spoil the reputation of Pakistan.

Sherry said President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani have strongly denounced the attack and the prime minister has ordered immediate enquiry of the incident and a report would be compiled soon.

She said security forces took the control of the area and there is no need to be panic, The News reported.

Islamabad, Jan 28: Pakistan's Information Minister Sherry Rehman has denied that President Asif Ali Zardari made any threatening comments regarding the upcoming lawyers' long march in February at the Parliament building on Tuesday.

Several Pakistani newspapers published a story, which attributed a statement threatening the lawyers' movement to President Asif Ali Zardari.

The statement was allegedly made during a PPP parliamentary party meeting on Monday, The Dawn reported.

Karachi, Jan 19 : Pakistan Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said the government will use all its powers to ensure that the girls' schools affected by the Taliban in Swat are reopened by March 1.

The militants' efforts to deter girls from attending school in Pakistan are darkly reminiscent of the former Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which banned education for girls and forced most working women to return to their homes, the Dawn reported.

Islamabad, Dec. 19 : Pakistan Information Minister Sherry Rehman has criticized PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for attacking the PPP-led government in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Referring to an interview of Sharif aired on a private television channel, Rehman said: "It is unfortunate that the leadership of a major political party, which we want to work with for rebuilding democracy and overcoming challenges, chooses a sensitive time to launch an attack on the government when the country needs nationalunity and consensus."

Sharif in his interview called Pakistan a failed and ungovernable state, the News reported.
