Brussels - The United States "wants to work with Pakistan" to boost security along its border with Afghanistan despite the row over US attacks into Pakistani territory, a senior US official said Wednesday in Brussels.

"We want to work with the Pakistanis because we know that long-term stability and security is only going to come from them," US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

Colombo, Aug. 4 : U. S. Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia and South Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher has once again reiterated Washington’s desire for ‘focussed and good’ intelligence services in Pakistan, as that is the only way that terrorism can be reined in.

Lahore, July 30 : US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher has reportedly said that the US could not tackle extremism and terrorism in Afghanistan without the help of Pakistan.

He also said that Pakistan could defeat terrorism and extremism only when it was willing to use military power against them.

Washington, July 21 : U. S. Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, has said that the United States will move forward and sign the India-US nuclear deal with India even if there is a minority government in place in New Delhi.

Speaking in an interview to the website rediff. com, Boucher said: “We are going to work with the Indians. We are going to work with the Congress, and we are going to take this as far as we can go.”
