US will sign nuke deal even with minority Indian Government: Boucher
Washington, July 21 : U. S. Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, has said that the United States will move forward and sign the India-US nuclear deal with India even if there is a minority government in place in New Delhi.
Speaking in an interview to the website rediff. com, Boucher said: “We are going to work with the Indians. We are going to work with the Congress, and we are going to take this as far as we can go.”
Boucher also said that the Bush Administration is quite excited by the prospect of going ahead with the deal, which is yet to see the light of day after over three years of hardboiled negotiations by the two sides.
He said that it all depended on “how far the Indians could go. We will see what happens in the confidence vote. We are going to try to take it that far, or further. So, that’s what we are going to do.” (ANI)
