After coming into criticism in 2006 when she adopted 13-month-old David Banda in Malawi, Madonna still wants to adopt a child. The pop-star was very keen on adopting a second child from Malawi, despite a court in the country refusing to grant her permission.

Responding to he queries from the Nation on Sunday newspaper, Madonna said she was still keen on adopting Mercy and returning to the country.

London, April 13 : Madonna is still trying her luck to adopt four-year-old Malawian orphan Chifundo "Mercy" James, despite a judge rejecting her application.

The 50-year-old had spent nearly two years preparing to adopt the tot as a sister to her adopted Malawian son David Banda, and her biological kids Lourdes and Rocco.

Her application was rejected due to a requirement that prospective parents be resident in the country for 18 to 24 months.

However, according to reports, the Queen of Pop is still keen on bringing Mercy to her New York home.

A judge had turned down the Material Girl’s request of adopting four year old Mercy James because she hadn’t lived in the country for 18 months.

Madonna has launched an appeal against the court''s ruling, and now the Malawi Human Rights Commission has stepped into the debate.

London, Apr 9 : It seems that the relationship between the Guy Ritchie and Madonna has warmed after he stepped in to support her following the failed adoption bid.

The pop queen - known to pals as Em - apparently broke down during a call to their son Rocco, who was with Ritchie last week.

"Civil conversations between them have been few and far between in the past year," the Sun quoted an insider as saying.
