A win or defeat may not immediately affect Modi's twin positions - the vice-presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the chairmanship of IPL - but an adverse result would be an embarrassment for the jet-setting administrator of Indian cricket.

Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president Lalit Modi formally announced his candidature for RCA presidentship on Monday and pulled up his socks for the "fair and square battle".

"We want that the government interference should not affect the RCA elections. It should be a fair and square battle," Modi said challenging his detractors. Modi along with the Kota district cricket association secretary Anim Pathan, who has filed nomination for the post of secretary, submitted 41 forms on behalf of his faction to fight on all the 21 posts of RCA.

Modi Hails SC Decision For Deferring RCA Polls In a major relief to IPL chairman Lalit Modi, the Supreme Court had ordered that the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, which were originally scheduled for February 22, be held on March 1.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P Sathasivam said Justice N. M. Kasliwal would act as an observer.

The court made it clear that the elections would be held as per the old unamended constitution of the association of February 11, 2005.
