US will undertake military offensive in Pak if ‘actionable target’ in sightWashington, Jan. 26: United States Vice President Joe Biden has made it clear that the US would not hesitate to launch a military offensive in Pakistan if there was an `actionable target' in sight.

Biden said that the missile hits in the tribal areas of Pakistan would also continue.

He said that the US is working towards strengthening their strategy to counter the rising insurgency in the tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Biden''''s aides issued an email to reporters detailing where he has been for the past three days, and where he''''s going over the weekend. And they even committed to make this a practice.

The Politico. com quoted the email as saying that the Vice President''''s communications office will send out a daily guidance mail each evening for the following day.

The status of Kirkuk, which is home to a mix of Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen, as well as 10-20 per cent of Iraq's proven oil reserves, has long been a source of dispute.

Many Kurds hope the city will eventually become the capital of an autonomous region in northern Iraq.

Iraqis are expected to watch Biden's comments closely, particularly given the senator's previous support for partitioning Iraq into three semi-autonomous regions.

Joe BidenIslamabad  - US vice president-elect Joe Biden arrived in Pakistan Friday as part of a tour of the restive South Asian region less than a fortnight before his inauguration, officials said.

Biden, who is accompanied by a congressional delegation, will be holding discussions with Pakistan's top political and military leadership on "bilateral relations and the regional situation," an official of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

The US senator was scheduled to meet Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden have apologized to Diane Feinstein, the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, for not consulting her about the nomination of Leon Panetta to head the CIA.

According toa Fox News report, Obama and Biden called Feinstein a day after her spokesman said the California senator did not receive a phone call about Panetta from anyone in the Obama camp and learned about the decision to nominate him from news reports.
