New York, December 16 : Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have upgraded their `recession proof' wedding rings to get themselves the traditional sparklers.

"The Hills" stars had been wearing 9-dollar bands apparently made of plastic with Pratt dubbing them as their recession hit bands.

"These are recession proof. This is an economy ring," the New York Daily News quoted Pratt as telling E! Online a week before he upgraded his band.

The 25-yearold had bought his wife an amethyst ring from Ice Accessories at his local mall before going down on his news last year.

The painting features Montag, instead of a smiling Obama, holding two melons in place of her breasts along with the word "grope,” taking a clear jibe at the 22-year-old’s breast enhancement surgery last year.
