Mugabe's time has passed, Rice saysCOPENHAGEN, Denmark, Dec. 5  -- Robert Mugabe's time has passed as president of Zimbabwe, considering the crises facing the country, U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday

"It's well past time for Robert Mugabe to leave," Rice said during a media availability appearance with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Copenhagen.

Zimbabwe is in the midst of a cholera outbreak in which more than 560 people have died, experienced a "sham election" and a "sham" power-sharing effort between Mugabe and opposition leaders, Rice said.

In a news conference after meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zadari, Rice said she and Zadari had "extensive discussions" in Islamabad about continuing cooperation "against our joint enemies in the war on terror."

Rice seeks concrete action from Zardari on Mumbai probe

Condoleezza RiceIslamabad, Dec. 4 : US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has reportedly got an assurance from Pakistan President Asi Ali Zardari that he and his government are committed to cooperate with India in the ongoing investigation into last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai.

Zardari, according ton CBS, has vowed to take "strong action" against any militants in his country if they are found to be involved.

Islamabad laid out a lavish lunch spread for the VIP guest, the highlight of which was a lamb biryani accompanied by condiments.

Rice tells Pak to take a tough line on terrorism

Islamabad, Dec. 4 : U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has told the Pakistan Government to take a "tough line" on terrorism after arriving in Islamabad for talks.

According to the BBC, Rice has also said that Pakistan has to mount a "robust" response to last week''s attacks in Mumbai, which left at least 188 people dead.

India has repeatedly insisted that the attackers had links to Pakistan, which Islamabad has denied.

Rice arrived in Islamabad from New Delhi where she called on both countries to show restraint in their respective responses to the Mumbai attacks.

Rice arrives in Islamabad to ease India-Pakistan tensions

Islamabad  - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Thursday arrived in Islamabad to defuse escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over last week's terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

During her five-hour stay in the Pakistani capital, Rice was scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

She was expected to mount pressure on the Pakistani leadership to fully cooperate with New Delhi in investigating the Mumbai carnage and bring those behind it to justice.
