Pakistan to withdraw emergency soon: Mahmud Ali Durrani

Washington, Nov 7 : Describing the imposition of emergency in Pakistan as a “short term move”, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Mahmud Ali Durrani said it would be lifted soon.

Durrani went on to say that a caretaker government would be installed shortly that would hold the general elections in the country.

Defending proclamation of emergency Durrani said only lawyers and some political parties are protesting against the step, but maintained that the protest has not cause any uncertainty in Pakistan, The News reported.

Denying the reports of scores of detainment in Pakistan, he claimed that a few hundred lawyers and some other persons have been detained after proclamation of emergency. (ANI)
