Over 500 employees quit Kingfisher Airlines as revival hopes wither
More than 500 Kingfisher employees have left the airline in the past four to five months to find jobs in other industries, two sources said.
The sources revealed that 500 to 550 employees quit the grounded airline after they saw no signs of revival. Those who quit the airline included ground staff, managerial staff, pilots and engineers.
A former employee from the managerial staff, said, "There is no guarantee the airline will resume flying, so a lot of us have left for other opportunities."
The employee added that they would get the full & final settlement from the company. He also claimed that they had found jobs in other industries.
When contacted, the Vijay Mallya-promoted carrier declined to comment on the report.
Kingfisher Airlines remained grounded since 1st of October 2012, and its permit expired on 31st of December. Civil aviation regulator DGCA and the civil aviation ministry have so far remained unconvinced with the carrier's revival plan.
The grounded carrier owes huge piles out money to the country's tax department, a consortium of lenders led by state Bank of India, its employees, and the Airports Authority of India.
Available figures suggest that Kingfisher is burdened with accumulated debt and losses of over Rs 15,000 crore. In the October to December quarter, the carrier suffered a net loss of Rs 755.17 crore.
