Orionid meteor shower to take place between October 17 and 25
An exciting opportunity is coming the way of people interesting in seeing meteor showers. The Orionid meteor shower will brighten up the night skies from October 17 to 25. Offspring of Comet Halley, the stream of the meteor starts in October and takes place until the beginning of November.
Best way to see the Orionid meteor that can show an average of 20 to 30 meteors an hour is to avoid city light and face towards the southeast. Experts have said that this meteor shower could be seen by people in Maldives on Wednesday night.
As per astronomers’ predictions, people would be able to see the event as it will be clear in the northern and southern hemisphere as well between 21 and 22 October. The Orionids can be best seen from midnight to dawn.
Like all meteor showers, the Orionids also have received their name from the place in the sky from where they radiation, which the famous supergiant star Betelgeuse in Orion. The peak of the meteor shower is expected to take place on October 21.
