NTPC leaves UP to set shop in MP
Following private companies like Tata and other, state-owned power company, NTPC has also decided to move its shop from state of UP and setting it up in MP.
The project is for building up of a plant with a capacity of producing 4,000-MW.
And the reason cited by the company is that there are growing conflicts between the state government of UP and itself which has led to this stage. It has now shifted the plant to Barethi in Madhya Pradesh.
It is going to be a coal-fired plant. NTPC said that while in UP it was constantly facing uncertainties; on the other hand, the MP government has promised to give all kind of amenities. These will be land, water and fuel, the three components necessary for thermal power plant.
Talking to media, a senior official of NTPC said that the company is in its final stages of preparing a feasibility report for MP plant.
Originally, the capacity of the plant was supposed to be 3,960 MW and was considered to be super-critical for the North Indian state. It was also a part of the initiative started by PM Manmohan Singh for the region.
