Not Many Americans Are Worried About Climate Change
Nowadays climate change is the most talked about topic in the top discussions held all over the world, but it seem that American public is least concerned about it. According to a new poll conducted by The Associated Press- NORC Center for Public Affairs Research most Americans pay very little attention to the issue of climate change.
According to climate and social scientists, the least botheration among American public restrict them from demanding and getting the changes that are very important to stop the global warming to reach a point where it becomes a crisis.
The AP-NORC poll that was conducted in mid-October has shown that almost two out of three Americans accept that global warming, but a majority of these people do not blame human activities for climate change.
The poll results showed that less than one in four Americans are extremely or very worried about it. The poll of 1,058 people showed that about one out of three Americans are moderately worried about climate change. Out of the total only 38% of the population was found to be worried about the climate change and global warming.
According to the poll, despite strong preaching by Pope Francis, only 36% of US residents consider that global warming is a moral issue.
"The big deal is that climate has not been a voting issue of the American population. If the American population were left to lead on the issue of climate, it's just not going to happen", said Dana Fisher, director of the Program for Society and the Environment at the University of Maryland.
