NASA Releases New Composite Image of Saturn’s Moon Titan

American space agency NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has sent back home some amazing photos of Saturn’s largest moon titan. The images instead of the hazy atmosphere show Titan’s surface clearly.

The composite image shows the area of Titan that faces towards Saturn. It also shows the dark, dune-filled regions of Fensal to the north and Aztlan to the south, which together form the shape of a sideways letter H.

According to experts, the largest moon of Saturn is tidal locked, which means that the same side of the moon always faces towards Saturn. It is the same way as the moon is tidal locked to earth.

SpaceX Announces Plan to Launch Falcon 9 Rocket On December 19

On Thursday, SpaceX announced that it is planning to launch its Falcon 9 rocket on December 19, 2015. It will be the first mission the company will attempt for after the massive explosion of its space station cargo six months ago.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Thursday also said that the company is planning to test fire Falcon 9’s main engines on Wednesday at Launch Complex 40, then launch about three days later.

The launch scheduled to take place on December 19 would be SpaceX’s first since a Falcon 9 rocket exploded two minutes after its liftoff on June 28. The cargo was all set to take necessary supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). The strut in the rocket’s upper-stage oxidizer tank was blamed for the accident.

Astronomers Find Tiny Star with Gigantic, Cloudy Storm

A team of astronomers recently discovered a small star which has huge storm. The storm is as big as Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, said researchers who detected the tiny star using NASA’s Spitzer and Kepler space telescopes.

John Gizis of the University of Delaware, Newark, said the star they discovered is almost the size of Jupiter, and its storm is the size of Jupiter's Great Red Spot.

Gizis, the lead author of a new study appearing in the Astrophysical Journal, said, “We know this newfound storm has lasted at least two years, and probably longer”.

Happiness Doesn’t Have Any Direct Effect on Mortality, say Researchers

A new study published on Wednesday in the Lancet finds that the widely held view that happiness enhances health and longevity is actually groundless. Researchers, for the study, followed approximately one million middle-aged women in Britain for 10 years.

The study researchers concluded that happiness and related measures of well-being do not have any direct effect on mortality.

Sir Richard Peto, an author of the study and a professor of medical statistics and epidemiology at the University of Oxford said he and his fellow researchers decided to look into the subject because of the widespread belief that stress and unhappiness causes diseases.

Surrogate Hound gives Birth to First Ever Puppies Conceived in Test Tubes

A team of researchers in the United States created the world’s first litter of puppies through in vitro fertilization (IVF). The researchers believe this breakthrough could help to eradicate disease in dogs and in humans as well.

Dr. Alexander Travis, who runs the lab at the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, New York, said they gently handled a puppy and cleaned it with a towel. Crying of the puppy was an approval for their success.

Just after the birth, eyes of puppies were closed. They were adorable, cute with smooshed-in faces. Doctors examined them to see if they were normal and were breathing properly.
