Brain makes you either critical or empathetic and sometimes both

Two mindsets have been dominating the world since centuries back. One group encompasses those who are religious minded, while another consists believers of science. A new study claimed that the difference in both groups arises due to dominance of one part of the brain, which forms their perception and belief.

There are two parts of brain; one is responsible for analytical thinking, whereas other give birth to empathetic thoughts. Researchers from the Case Western Reserve University and Babson University studied both parts and how they respond to supernatural beliefs. The researchers did eight experiments on 159 to 527 adults. The participants were judged for their empathetic and critical response.

NASA: Saturn's largest moon Titan's tallest peak is 10,948 feet high

NASA's Cassini mission scientists have identified the highest peak on Titan, largest moon of planet Saturn. The tallest peak on Titan is 10,948 feet high, the research team said.

They have also discovered that all of the highest peaks on Titan are roughly 10,000 feet in elevation. The study has revealed surfaces in-depth using pictures and other data from Cassini's radar instrument.

Stephen Wall, deputy lead of the Cassini radar team at NASA, said that the point discovered by them isn’t just the highest point they have found on Titan so far, but they also think that it’s the highest point they would ever find there. Most of the tallest mountains on Titan are apparently near to the equator.

Sun is capable of producing monstrous eruptions or 'superflares'

According to scientists, the Sun can generate monstrous eruptions or 'superflares', capable of breaking down not just radio communication and power supplies, but can also have a bad impact on the ability of our planet to support life.

Solar eruptions often hit Earth. The eruptions are packed with energetic particles that are thrown out by the Sun into space. However, in the times when Sun hurls out massive amounts of hot plasma at the time of huge solar eruptions, it could have serious consequences.

Blind Cavefish That Walks can Reveal about Evolution of Life on Earth

Like early creatures that walked out of the sea, a blind cavefish can climb rocks and waterfalls. Researchers from the New Jersey Institute of Technology discovered that the fish in Thailand has a unique feature that allows it to crawl in a way not seen in other fish species.

The researchers believe the rare fish, Cryptotora thamicola, may reveal how critters made the switch from living and swimming in water to walk on terrain. The finding has offered clues showing that the species may have evolved millions of years ago, as per the researchers.

Healthy fat could reduce risk of developing diabetes further in pre-diabetics

A new study conducted on a small scale claimed that less intake of food sources that contain healthy fat could reduce risk of developing diabetes. Study researchers suggest that food items like meat and cheese should be replaced by vegetable oils and nuts. Some people could get benefit from such type of diet as regard to diabetes and they should consult a dietician to get their current diet checked.

Genetically Modified Maggots Heal Wounds More Quickly

A clinical trial conducted at the North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh tested a much faster wound-healing biotechnology that uses maggots to cure an infected area. The scientists used the laboratory-engineered fly larvae that didn’t just heal the wound but also hastened healing. The study on trial was published in the journal BMC Biotechnology.

The scientists spread the green bottle fly larvae, scientifically known as Lucilia sericata, on an open wound caused mostly by diabetic foot ulcers. The enhanced maggots cured the wound by removing dead tissue while decontaminating the wound. The process was quicker to offer recovery. The newly devised biotherapy is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is named maggot debridement therapy (MDT).
