Poor co-ordination between Maha Govt. departments responsible for malnutrition deaths: Congress

Mumbai [India], Sept. 18 : The Congress on Sunday said that poor co-ordination between various departments of the Maharashtra government is responsible for the huge number of children dying inthe state due to malnutrition.

"There is a Tribal Welfare Minister, Child Welfare Ministry, Health Department and Education ministry in Maharashtra which should have come together and worked, but there is no coordination between these departments. Due to this lack of coordination such incidents take place," Congress Member of Parliament Husain Dalwai told ANI.

As per reports, in Mumbai's Palghar district more than 4000 children are suffering from malnutrition and around 600 have already died because of it.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Sept. 18 : Continuing their political assault on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its lackadaisical attitude towards dealing with the vector borne disease outbreak in the national capital, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday asserted that while Delhi is turning into hell because of Dengue and Chikungunya, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia continues to remain abroad.

"As far as Chikungunya, malaria and dengue are concerned, these are very sensitive issues and have to be handled sensibly. Delhi is turning into hell as far as diseases are concerned. Delhi is sinking," BJP leader Sambit Patra told ANI here.

Six new players likely to enter reinsurance market in India by January 2017, says IRDA chief

New Delhi [India], Sep 17 : Up to six new players in the reinsurance market are likely to enter India by January 2017, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) chief TS Vijayan, said at an ASSOCHAM event.

"About five-six (companies) have come and I think by January 2017, there should be some players in this market, we will be taking a decision in October in the next authority meeting, then they have to bring capital and start working at it," said Vijayan.

He also said that IRDA would finalize the regulations pertaining to payment of commission or remuneration to insurance agents and intermediaries in October.

Major setback for Kiwis as Southee ruled of India Tests with ankle injury

New Delhi,[India] Sept.17 : In a major setback to New Zealand, bowling mainstay Tim Southee has been ruled of the upcoming three-Test series against India with an ankle injury.

The 27-year-old suffered a ligament strain in his left ankle and felt pain in his left foot during a training session, and will head back to New Zealand in order to be fit for the five-match ODI series beginning on October 16 in Dharamsala.

"Tim has been working hard in preparation for this tour, so he's understandably very disappointed to be ruled out of all three Tests," New Zealand coach Mike Hesson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "The focus now is for Tim to give his ankle 7-10 days rest, before slowly building his bowling loads back up ahead of the ODI series."
