India and Pakistan formally announced on Friday that they would hold the foreign secretary-level talks in New Delhi on February 25.

Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir telephoned his Indian counterpart Nirupama Rao, accepting India’s offer for talks in New Delhi.

“Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir telephoned Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao today to convey acceptance of India’s invitation to hold foreign secretary-level talks,” an External Affairs Ministry statement said.

Lalit Modi, the commissioner of Champions League has said on Thursday that the schedule of the Champions League will clash with the English domestic season this year.

He has asked the English side to adjust their schedule so that they could take part in the tournament. The Champions League feature top Twenty20 club sides from around the world and it will be held from September 10-26.

TV channels have urged to the administration to get involved the clash with IPL over match coverage rules.

In a declaration on Friday, the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) stated that it had asked the I&B ministry to step into the argument as it did in 2008.

The I&B’s intervention at that time led to a negotiation and the rules formulated then had held well up till now.

Business consultancy firm, Deloitte has announced plans to hire 12,000 people in India over the next 30 months. This would double the company’s manpower to 24,500.

“We will hire around 12,000 people in every sector, including IT, CAs, financial services. The process has started and 40 per cent of the new recruits will be freshers,” said the Managing Director of the company’s India unit Mr Hari Kumar. He was speaking at the sidelines of Nasscom Summit on Thursday.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has entered into a license agreement with Mitsubishi Agriculture Machinery Company (MAMC), Japan for the transfer of technology in the field of agricultural machinery.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed by the company. The license will be for M&M Farm Equipment Sectors’ (FES) Applitrac business.

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced today that it has received a contract from Bharti Airtel worth $700-million for expansion and upgradation of its 2G network in the country. The companies have worked jointly on projects before.

Under the contract, Nokia will increase Bharti's 2.5G network capacity by 50% in eight of its circles. Nokia will also take into consideration that its core network is 3G-ready which would help the company offer services with greater speeds at a later date.
