New Delhi, Aug 27 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L. K. Advani Saturday urged parliament to resolve the three key demands on the Lokpal bill raised by Team Anna by evening so that Anna Hazare can call off his 12-day long fast.

"We should discuss the bill throughout the day and till evening the view of the house should go to Anna Hazare, and it will be meaningful if the conclusion of debate leads to ending of Anna ji's fast," he told the Lok Sabha.

New Delhi, Aug 27 : Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said that Anna Hazare's anti-graft campaign had brought the issue of Lokpal to the people and the massive support it garnered was because people were "fed up" of increasing corruption in the last two years.

Initiating the debate at a special sitting on the Lokpal bill issue after an address by Leader of House Pranab Mukherjee, Sushma Swaraj also urged the members to set an example by having a peaceful debate.

New Delhi, Aug 27 : Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Saturday said the discussions on the Lokpal issue will take place initially for seven hours and if required could be extended.

The clarification came after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had initated a debate on the Lokpal bill and leaders like Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal (United) and others demanded more time to discuss this critical issue so that the voice of all parties can be heard.

New Delhi, Aug 27 : As the Lok Sabha took up the debate on the Lokpal bill Saturday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad got up agitatedly and said by debating the issue the house was bypassing the parliamentary standing committee which is looking into the anti-graft legislation.

"By allowing the house to debate the Lokpal bill directly is violating the rules," the RJD leader said soon after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's speech.
