London, Sept 7 : Search giant Google will be closing ten of its less successful services in order to focus resources on its `higher-impact products'.

The services being closed by Google include a social network powered question and answer search tool `Aardvark', an experiment in displaying news content online `Fast Flip', and a note-taking and URL clipping service `Notebook,' the Telegraph reports.

London, Sept 7 : The chief executive of Internet services company Yahoo, Carol Bartz, has reportedly been fired by the company's board over the phone.

The board named Chief Financial Officer Tim Morse to be interim CEO while it searches for a replacement for Bartz, the Telegraph reports.

Bartz said in a memo to employees that she was fired by Yahoo''s Chairman of the Board over the phone, the paper said.

London, Sept 7 : A team of researchers from New York's Cornell University believe they have uncovered the secret behind squirting ketchup, disapproving a decades-old scientific idea.

How can ketchup seem solidly stuck to the bottom of a bottle, then squirt copiously on to your chips as soon as you give it a squeeze?

It's one of mankind's most pressing mysteries.

London, Sept 7 : Researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University have developed a potential vaccine against tuberculosis that completely eliminated the bacteria from infected tissues in some mice.

According to lead author William Jacobs, Jr., Ph. D., the only currently used BCG vaccine is not that effective in protecting against TB.

London, Sept 7 : G. sulfurreducens, a species of Geobacter bacteria, has an extraordinary ability to remove uranium from contaminated groundwater.

Researchers at Michigan State University have been trying to find out how the process works. They suspected that hair-like filaments called pili produced by G. sulfurreducens in certain environments might be the answer.

Mumbai, Sep 7 - After striking gold with "Bodyguard", starring brother-in-law Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, actor-turned-producer Atul Agnihotri is now working on a biopic on southern superstar Rajinikanth.

"There is a huge responsibility involved in making a film on Rajinikanth. We need his approval and contribution. Making a film on him will be an enriching experience for us. Certain commerce is involved in filmmaking; so we are working out the logistics," Agnihotri told IANS in an interview.
