Pakistan team safe after 'terrifying' experience in Christchurch quack

Karachi [Pakistan], Nov. 14 : Pakistan team manager Wasim Bari has described the experience felt by the team members of the national cricket squad during a 7.4 magnitude earthquake which struck Christchurch and its adjoining areas as a "terrifying" one.

Pakistan were in Nelson to play a three-day tour game before the first Test in Christchurch beginning from November 17.

"We are staying at a hotel in Nelson, where we were playing our tour match but today when the earthquake came it was a terrifying experience as everything was shaking badly and we were safely escorted out of the hotel," Bari was quoted as saying by the Dawn from New Zealand.

Trump asks supporters to "stop" harassing minorities

Washington [USA], Nov. 14 : United States President-elect Donald Trump has urged his supporters to stop harassing minorities over reports that Latinos and Muslims are being harassed in the country post his win.

In his first televised sit-down interview since becoming President-elect, Trump said, "I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, 'Stop it.' If it -- if it helps, I will say this and I will say right to the cameras: 'Stop it.'", reports the CNN.

Trump's radical stance on immigration and regional issues has left many minorities fearful about the future.

Trump said he's seen "a very small amount" -- including "one or two instances" -- of racial slurs being directed at minorities, particularly in largely white schools, since his election.

Demonitisation: Task force set up for recalibration of ATMs

New Delhi [India], Nov. 14 : Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das has announced that a task force is being set up under the chairmanship of deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for recalibration of ATMs to expedite the process of cash transactions.

"The ATMs which are being recalibrated to dispense 500 rupee notes and 2,000 rupee notes i.e. the new series of 500 rupee notes and the 2,000 rupee notes.to expedite this process as fast as possible a task force is being set up under the chairmanship of deputy governor of the Reserve Bank. It will have representatives of banks as its members," Das told ANI.

Arafat, who is not a part of the 16-member squad picked up for the New Zealand tour, said Pakistan has a very good record in New Zealand and there is every chance that could continue this time around.

Two dead as series of powerful quakes hit New Zealand

New York [USA], Nov. 14 : A series of powerful earthquakes in New Zealand's South Island on Monday have left at least two dead and triggered a Tsunami warning.

The first event, a 7.8-magnitude quake, struck just after midnight Monday near the coastal community of Kaikoura, some 93 kilometers (55 miles) northeast of the city of Christchurch, the US Geological Survey reported.

Kaikoura, a town of about 2000 people, has been almost completely isolated with roads closed and phone lines down. There is a state of emergency in place for the town. The first rescue teams to reach the town report no serious injuries.

Sharma was promoted to the top-order in both the matches of the ongoing one-day series and she responded with responsible contributions.

In the first ODI, she made 16 off 40 balls in the first ODI while opening, and scored 32 off 63 balls during the 63-run partnership for the third wicket after coming to the crease at No 3 in the second ODI.

West Indies, asked to make first use of the surface in the second ODI, struggled for momentum and crawled to 153 for 7 in 50 overs.
