Running can improve swotting for exams

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 20 : If you feel you are forgetting all that you've crammed in during a study session, then go for a run.

A new study says that a student's choice of activity after a period of learning, such as cramming for an exam, has a direct effect on their ability to remember information.

The researchers behind the new study, from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, say students should do moderate exercise, like running, rather than taking part in a passive activity such as playing computer games if they want to make sure they remember what they learned.

"I had kids in an age where computer games started to be of high interest," said lead author Harald Kindermann.

Brad Pitt visits his kids for second time since split with wife Jolie

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 20 : Brad Pitt recently saw his children for the second time since his highly publicized split with Angelina Jolie earlier last month.

The famous father reportedly had a monitored visit that "lasted about 90 minutes at an undisclosed neutral location", reports E! Online.

A source stated, "Brad wasn't as emotional as the first visit, but it was obvious that he was very happy to see the kids."

However, it is unclear whether the couple's eldest son, Maddox, has gone to see his father since the divorce filing as another source informed that the 15-year-old "is mad at his dad" and does not want to see him now.

The 52-year-old star first visited them on October 8 but not all of his kids were there.

Ice water mix helps body to cope up exertion in hot weather

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 20 : Temperature of water consumed may be as important as the amount when trying to manage thermoregulation, indicated new report.

The study from the University of Montana demonstrated a unique relationship between fluid volume and fluid temperature during arduous work in the heat.

It indicated that an ice slurry/water mixture was as effective as ambient water even when consumed in half the quantity. Investigators also emphasized the importance of rest.

"While the common approach to managing health in hot environments centers around maintaining hydration, limited attention is devoted to managing heat production from hard work or play," explained lead investigator Brent C. Ruby.

How does child react after losing pet?

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 20 : Relatively short lifespan of pets make children witness the reality of life very soon.

New research at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, focuses on how children understand death in these moments, and the ideas, feelings and responses they have when their pets die.

"How children understand death in these moments, and the ideas, feelings and responses they have when their pets die are largely ignored topics," questions researcher Joshua J. Russell.

The study reveals that pets are more than just animals to children.

"They often see themselves as the center of their pets' affections," said Russell, who conducted one-on-one interviews with children between the ages of six and 13.
