Opposition does not have anything against demonetisation, says BJP

New Delhi [India], Nov. 25 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday blamed the opposition for creating an unwarranted ruckus in Parliament and said the latter has no constructive argument to present to the Centre on the demonetisation drive.

BJP leader Shrikant Sharma dubbed the political parties protesting against demonetisation as confused and said that if the opposition had any facts against the currency swap they would have presented it by now.

"The reality is that the opposition itself does not want a debate as its leaders are not ready, everyday they are coming up with new issues, whereas, in real, they don't have any facts with which they can oppose us. People are supporting the demonetisation drive," said Sharma.

Europe faces threats of 2008 Mumbai-style terror attacks

Geneva [Switzerland] Nov. 25 : European nations are vulnerable to the 2008 Mumbai-style terror attacks by Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), whose tentacles were found spread in the continent by security agencies, especially after last year's deadly Paris terror attacks at multiple locations that claimed 130 lives.

Eight years ago, 10 terrorists of the Pakistan-based LeT attacked multiple public places in Mumbai from November 26-28, 2008, killing more than 160 civilians, many of them foreigners. Except for the death of some European tourists, the general notion in Europe was that the shocking terror incident had taken place far from their home shores, with close to no threat of such attacks being replicated in the West.

Disney's 'Moana' melts 'Frozen' in pre-thanksgiving box office

Washington D.C. [USA], Nov. 25 : For its first full day of release, Disney's latest animated movie 'Moana' brought in 15.6 million dollars at the box office beating its 2013 smash hit 'Frozen'.

The movie about a defiant Polynesian princess on a heroine's quest to save her people and restore the planet's ecological balance is running ahead of the studio's 'Frozen' which drew 15.16 million dollars on 'Thanksgiving Eve' in 2013, reports the New York Times.

While 'Moana' is projected to earn more than 80 million dollars over the five-day holiday weekend, it would unlikely beat ' Frozen' record which still holds the Thanksgiving five-day opening record with 93.6 million dollars.

Woakes demands clarity on 'grey area' post 'mintgate' row

Mohali [Punjab], Nov. 24 : England pacer Chris Woakes on Thursday put forward his views on the recent ' mintgate' controversy involving South Africa stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis, saying the International Cricket Council (ICC) should come out with some clarity on the 'grey area' involving the ball-tampering issue.

Du Plessis was fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching Article 2.2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, but was cleared to play the ongoing day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval.

`Disappointed` Wenger admits Arsenal have `lost winning momentum`

Johannesburg [South Africa], Nov.24 : Disappointed after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his side have lost their momentum and look destined to make a frustrating second-place finish in the group standings.

Pointing out his side's unbeaten streak of 18 games, the 67-year-old manager, however, called on the club to try to convert their draws into wins.

"We have not lost but we have lost a winning momentum a little bit. There is a special spirit in the squad. We are unbeaten for 18 games and sometimes you go through a period where you are a little bit less effective. It's up to us to transform the draws into wins, but there is no reason to panic," Sport24 quoted Wenger as saying.
