Authorities have informed that a rabbi was arrested outside his Chandler, Ariz., synagogue on suspicion of raping a 7-year-old girl in New York 10 years ago.

The East Valley Tribune has reported that Rabbi Bryan Bramly, 45, was being held in Maricopa County Jail on a charge of first-degree rape, awaiting extradition to New York. The newspaper further said that U. S. Marshals and detectives from the New York Police Department arrested Bramly on Tuesday.

He is suspected of raping the girl in March 2000.

An island company has reported that Mothballed U. S. Navy ships polluting a Northern California bay could be towed to a South Pacific island and scrapped there.

The Contra Costa Times reported on Wednesday that a salvage company in the Northern Mariana Islands announced plans to bid on disposal contracts and tow the aged vessels, mothballed in Suisun Bay, to the islands' biggest city Saipan for scrapping.

WXIN-TV, Indianapolis, reported on Wednesday that Barbara Bennett, 81, withdrew the money from an Indianapolis bank to cover medical bills for her husband, who is in a nursing home. She put the money in a manila envelope and thought she put it in her car.

When she got home, the money was not in the car. Her son Greg Bennett went to the bank to search.

Authorities have said that a California man arraigned on child-porn charges had been assembling items for an alleged "rape kit."

The Marin (Calif.) Independent Journal reported on Wednesday that Jonathan Douglas Hill, 30, was charged in court Tuesday for multiple crimes, including lewd practices in the presence of minors, indecent exposure and annoying or molesting children.

The newspaper also said that Hill was arrested after an elementary school student told her parents a man in a white SUV made a sexual comment, exposed himself and smiled at her.
