Mysterious Pyramid on Ceres Is Not a Pyramid, says NASA

NASA's Dawn spacecraft recently sent back home images of the tiny world Ceres that were taken from a distance of 915 miles. NASA scientists have spotted a strange conical mountain in one of the image jutting out of the landscape.

As per NASA experts, so far they have no explanation for what created the strange structure on the Ceres's surface, but it's clearer than ever that even a seemingly featureless celestial body can hold its share of surprises.

When the tall, cone-shaped mountain that has attracted much interest from scientists and the public alike was first seen in images taken by the Dawn spacecraft months ago, the 21,120-foot-tall mountain was dubbed a 'pyramid'.

New Crayfish Species Named After Edward Snowden

As per reports, three German scientists have named a newly found species after Edward Snowden, a former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor who leaked classified information about vast government surveillance programs.

The researchers described the recently found species in an article published on Monday in the journal ZooKeys. Christian Lukhaup, one of the researchers, said, "We have so many species named after other famous people who probably don't do so much for humanity. I wanted to show support for Edward Snowden. I think what he did is something very special".

Rare Nautilus Seen For First Time in 30 Years

A team of scientists said they have spotted a rare nautilus after more than 30 years. The species has been spotted 30 years after scientists for the first found and identified the new species of nautilus off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The recently spotted species of nautilus, Allonautilus scrobiculatus, is cousin to squids and cuttlefish. They skim the sea floor in warm waters and have a distinctive spiral shell.

Peter Ward, a biologist at the University of Washington who spotted the species, said in a statement that in the case of Allonautilus, the spiral shell grows a strange furry, slimy material on it. This covering on the shell might help stay protected from predators' teeth and prevent other animals to get a grip.
