FDA says Just Mayo Spread doesn’t meet Mayonnaise standards

Hampton Creek, a tiny company that sells plant-based replacements for proteins derived from animals, has been told by the Food and Drug Administration that the company’s Just Mayo products have been violating federal regulations linked to standards for mayonnaise and proper labeling.

The agency, in a letter dated August 12, mentioned that the term ‘mayo’ in the brand name and the logo, a minimalist egg ‘cracked’ by a pea shoot, may have been misleading consumers by meaning that the products contain eggs in them.

Two bald eagles to return back to wild from Wildlife Center of Virginia this week

This week, the Wildlife Center of Virginia (WCV) is going to release two bald eagles. The center has planned to release one eagle on Wednesday morning at Widewater State Park in Stafford County and the other on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry County.

Skull Fragment of Earliest Baboon found

Scientists have found a wonderfully preserved skull fragment of the oldest baboon species in a South African cave. They didn’t find any other non-hominid animal apart from the ancient baboon in the cave. Archaeologists and anthropologists have done a lot of work on this site in Malapa as it had a massive population of a variety of hominid species across millions of years.

This site was the same place where a distinct hominid species, Australopithecus sediba, was discovered by the scientists for the first time.

Researchers confirm Existence of Cosmic Neutrinos

A team of researchers at the South Pole has verified the existence of miniscule particles, cosmic neutrinos. New evidence confirmed a 2013 sighting of cosmic neutrinos by using IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole.

The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a neutrino telescope that detected secondary particles known as ‘muons’. These secondary particles get created after theneutrinos’ interaction with matter, but it is a very rare occasion. The new research has been published in the journal Physical Review Letters.

Montezuma Wildlife Refuge offers monarch butterfly tagging workshop

According to reports, the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge has come up with a free monarch butterfly tagging workshop Labor Day weekend. It has been organized at the refuge's visitor's center. Judith Austic is offering the workshop.

It has been set from 2 to 3:30 pm on Saturday on September 5. Austic is a monarch tagging expert and co-owner of a cash crop farm.

People who will attend the workshop will be taught how monarchs are captured and tagged safely. They will also get to know that from where tagging kits could be bought and how data should be recorded and data sheets should be returned.
