Treating intravenous drug users for HIV has been effective and saved money, French and U. S. researchers have said.

The researchers concluded drug users, including those actively injecting, were capable of positive choices to protect their health and that of their communities.

The researchers have said that treating human immunodeficiency virus in drug-users, has not increased drug resistance and preliminary findings suggested it reduced HIV transmission, independent of needle sharing.

Researchers in Canada have advised that children with celiac disease should go outside and play, and take vitamins to ward off weak bones and osteoporosis.

The study involved 43 children and teens ages 3-18, who were diagnosed with celiac disease, researchers at the University of Alberta has said.

The study showed the children got less than 50 percent of their recommended dietary intake of vitamin K as well as low levels of vitamin D, says Diana Mager, one of the researchers.

State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has recorded an increase of 41.84% in its net profit, which stood at Rs 667.66 crore on account of increased net sales during the three month period.

The company had a net profit of Rs 470.69 crore during the same period of 2009-10.

BHEL's income from operation was Rs 6,761.23 crore as against Rs 5,799.59 crore during the same period last year.

The company's net sales increased by 15.79% to Rs 6,479.69 crore as against Rs 5,595.65 crore during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab finished up on the wrong side of the law today when a court issued bailable arrest warrants to its three owners including actress Priety Zinta, industrialist Ness Wadia and businessman Mohit Burman.

Chief Judicial Magistrate J. S. Sidhu issued the arrest warrants after the three owners failed to appear before the court in a case against them.

The case against the team owners was lodged by the Registrar of Companies (ROC) office during April, accusing them of not forwarding their balance sheet and returns.
