Tom Cruise finally apologizes to Matt Lauer for 2005 rant
New York, Dec 16 : Tom Cruise, who appeared on ''Today'' three years and exchanged sharp word with co-host Matt Lauer, has apologized to the newsman.
The newly minted Golden Globe nominee finally got around to apologizing to Lauer for a disastrous interview in which he called the newsman "glib" and ranted about psychiatry and Scientology, reports E! Online.
"After looking at it, I really thought, you know, it''s not what I had intended," he said.
"In looking at it, I thought I came across as arrogant. It''s one of those things you go, ''OK, I could have handled that a lot better.'' I didn''t communicate it the way that I wanted to communicate it. And also, that''s not who I am. That''s not the person that I am," he added.
The host later asked the actor about his decision not to talk about Scientology. Cruise said it''s not that he won''t talk about it, but "there''s a time and place for it."
Tension between Lauer and the Top Gunner was nonexistent.
Despite the on-air war of words, Lauer and Cruise seem to have buried the hatchet and insist there''s no animosity.
Cruise even turned up to Lauer''s roast this year and joked about the infamous interview. (ANI)
