Germany's Buschschulte ends swim career

Antje BuschschulteMagdeburg, Germany - Germany's former backstroke world champion Antje Buschschulte has ended her swimming career.

"I have decided to climb out of the pool and bring more time on land," the 29-year-old swimmer said Saturday.

Buschschulte competed at four Olympic Games, reaching the semi-final of the 100m backstroke and the final of the 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Games.

She was 2003 world champion in the 100m backstroke. (dpa)
