Zee Launches Tamil Channel ‘Zee Tamizh’
Subhash Chandra promoted Zee network launched its Tamil entertainment channel, ‘Zee Tamizh’ on October 12, 2008.
This is the Zee's thirty-third channel in the country, and third in the South India, after Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada.
Speaking on this, G Ramprasad (CEO, Zee Entertainment – South) said, "We have invested close to Rs 100 crore in the Tamil venture, most of which has gone into content procurement and acquisition of movies. Tamil Nadu is one of the biggest media markets as it accounts for 8 per cent of the national advertising space."
The channel would showcase mega serials, talent shows, and three news bulletins everyday. The channel had already secured 40 per cent of the Tamil films released this year so far.
As a pay channel, Zee Tamizh, would be available in Dish TV and multi-system operators (MSOs) and government-owned Arasu Cable TV Corporation. However, it would not be available on Maran-owned Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV), the leading MSO in the state.
