British Celebrity photographer fined for breaching privacy
Jason Fraser, celebrity photographer has been fined by a French court for invading privacy of Dodi Fayed and Princes Diana. Fraser. Fraser had taken pictures of the kissing couple on a yacht in Italy.
The pictures had been clicked shortly before Princess Diana and Dodi died in a car accident in 1997. Fraser, who is a freelance photographer, had earned more than 2 million euros by selling the photographs to different newspapers.
The photographer has been tried in France as the pictures clicked by him appeared in British newspapers in France, which were later reprinted in various other French publications. Though, he had been cleared of the charges in 2006, but an appeal in the court for re examination by Dodi’s father, found him guilty of breaching intimacy of the lovers.
The court has ordered Fraser to pay Mohamed Al Fayed, father of Dodi, £ 3,900 as damages and an additional fine of £ 2,360. However, Fraser is claiming the verdict as “personal vendetta” and hopes that the ruling would be overturned.
