Benazir Bhutto asks Pervez Musharraf to quit as President

Islamabad, Nov 13 (ANI): Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has demanded that General Pervez Musharraf should quit as President, saying that the time for the military ruler is over.

"We say Musharraf must leave. The time for dictatorship is over, " Bhutto said in a telephone interview with a British News Channel from Lahore, where police have placed her under house arrest to stop a rally against a state of emergency declared by Musharraf.

Earlier, Bhutto said that the ‘Long March’ was not a political rally, but a "march by the people against the tyrants and nobody dares stop it. "

"We appeal to all people, including those from other parties and minorities, women and children, to take part in this long march, " she added.

Bhutto ruled out any more power-sharing talks with Musharraf while vowing to press ahead with the ‘Long March’.

"We are saying no to any more talks, " The News quoted Bhutto, as saying.

"We cannot work with anyone who has suspended the Constitution, imposed emergency rule, and oppressed the judiciary. That’s why we are holding the ‘long march’, " she said.

Bhutto said that boycotting the election is an option with us.

"The decision to impose an emergency and not to quit his military uniform has led to a breakdown of talks between us and the Musharraf regime, " she added. (ANI)
