Aomori, Japan  - Energy ministers from the Group of Eight (G8) - the seven largest industrialized economies and Russia - met Sunday in Aomori, Japan, with ministers from China, India and South Korea to discuss soaring world prices for oil and natural gas.

Japanese Economy Minister Akira Amari said at the start of the meeting that the G8 ministers were also discussing progress on an action plan for global energy security, which was agreed by G8 members in 2006. (dpa)
