Ahmadinejad: Israeli regime to be "wiped out soon"

Tehran  - Iranian President Mahmoud AhmadinejadIranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday continued his tirades against Israel saying the Israeli regime "would be soon wiped out from geographic scenery."

"The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime (Israel) which has a record of 60 years of killing and violation has reached its final phase and will soon be wiped out from the geographic scene," the official news agency IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.

Ahmadinejad was addressing foreign guests who came to Tehran to attend ceremonies on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the death of late supreme leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

"We thank God for witnessing the awakening of (Muslim) nations. If we (world Muslims) stay besides each other, the collapse of tyrannical powers will come sooner," Ahmadinejad said.

"The dawn of victory is near and darkness will go," the president predicted.

Ahmadinejad has caused international outrage in the last three years by voicing his hope for the eradication of Israel, the relocation of the Jewish state to Europe or Alaska and questioning the historic dimensions of the Holocaust.

The Iranian president last month used the 60th anniversary of Israel's foundation to continue his tirades against the Jewish state which he called a "rotten and stinking corpse." (dpa)
