Co-op Cycles, a bicycle brand known for its range of commuter and utility-focused mobility solutions, has entered the electric mountain bike (eMTB) arena with the introduction of The DRT E3.1, marking its inaugural electric mountain bike offering. Marking the Co-op Cycles’ entry into the realm of high-performance e-bicycles, the DRT e3.1 is the brand's first-ever dedicated electric mountain bike. Designed for serious enthusiasts, this eMTB comes loaded with an impressive array of cutting-edge technology.

One of the many notable features of the new eMTB is its Class 1 e-bike classification, which grants riders access to a wide range of trails, fundamentally mirroring the capabilities of a conventional mountain bike.

To Power the electric beast, the manufacturer has equipped the e-bike with the Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor that is capable of delivering a robust 85 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, making it quite easy for it to climb steep hills. Natural pedal assistance makes the job easier. Top speed of the e-bike has been limited at 20 miles per hour (mph), although a rider can exceed this limit using his/her own leg power.

When it comes to battery technology, Co-op Cycles has used the Bosch Power Tube 625, which boasts to be one of Bosch's highest-capacity batteries at 625 watt-hours (Wh). This promises extended hours of uninterrupted riding, more than enough for dominating the trails. In other words, it enables the rider to enjoy an exhilarating ride, and safely return to home. Adding to the convenience, the manufacturer has ensured that the battery can be easily removed from the e-bike’s frame for separate charging, anywhere inside a home or office.

In terms of components that make the new e-bike a true mountain bike, it features a Sram SX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain that allow riders to fine-tune their gear ratios for tackling technical climbs. The suspension setup comes courtesy of RockShox, featuring a Recon Silver RL front fork with 140 mm of travel and a Deluxe Select Plus RT shock at the rear. For ensuring confident and reliable stopping power, the new eMTB comes equipped with potent Tektro four-piston hydraulic disc brakes.

It may be noted here Co-op Cycles bicycle brand is owned by Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), a popular distributor of outdoor goods & equipment. REI members can purchase the DRT e3.1 starting 31st of October by forking out $4,999, a great deal compared to similar e-bikes. Later, it will be made available to non-members too.
