Your Hot Dog could have Human DNA in It

Americans have a 120-year-old bond with hot dogs. Whether it is a celebration or a normal day, they can’t ignore the sausage. The story is not over yet as vegetarian hot dogs could also have human DNA in them. A new study has revealed that Clear Food, which is a subsidiary of Clear Labs, has found human DNA in hot dogs. About 2% sampled hot dog and sausage brands were found having human DNA, as per the study.

The study also reported that more than 60% samples with human DNA were promoted as vegetarian, and about 15% samples were found containing ingredients that were not even on the label.

Sasan Amini, chief executive officer and co-founder of Clear Labs, said in a statement that the US food industry has been a mystery from a long time. People eat a food after considering that labels are accurate, but actually, they are not, according to Amini. There was more than 10% difference between ingredients labeled and ingredients actually used to prepare hot dogs, Amini revealed.

During the study, the Clear Food researchers collected about 345 hot dogs and sausages samples to test. The samples were taken from a number of different brands at 10 different retailers. The study found that more than 14% samples were full of problems in some way. Some had hygienic issues, while other had ingredient substitution or addition problems, as per the study.

The study reported, “Substitution occurs when ingredients are added that do not show up on the label. Hygienic issues occur when some sort of non-harmful contaminant is introduced to the hot dog, in most cases, human DNA”.
