Lee’s Sandwiches International recalls over 200,000 Pounds of Meat Products

Lee’s Sandwiches International has recalled more than 200,000 pounds of meat products because it has been found that the food was made without being inspected.

According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the US fast food restaurant chain even bore unauthorized United States Department of Agriculture marks of inspection.

The USDA said in a press release that the chicken, beef and pork products manufactured by the company were recalled by the garden Grove-based company from its restaurants in six states, including California.

“FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider”, the press release stated.

The issue was raised during a surveillance review by the USDA’s Food Safety and inspection Service.

The USDA press release affirmed that during the review, FSIS personnel observed and even detained non-federally inspected products which were produced at the warehouse distributorship and had used USDA marks of inspection without any authorization.

According to the FSIS, the recalled food was sent to restaurants in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas for cooking and consumption.

FSIS officials said in a statement that so far they have not received any reports of adverse reactions among consumers.

The biggest quantities of recalled meat products include ‘pork pate chaud’ (61,000 pounds), ‘chicken pate chaud’ (56,000 pounds), ‘sliced oil browned turkey’ (23,000 pounds) and ‘banh boa trung cut pork and quail egg steamed bun’ (15,000 pounds), ‘banh bao pork and egg steamed bun’ (55,000 pounds).
