Girls will relate to my 'Khoobsurat' character: Sonam Kapoor

Sonam KapoorNew Delhi - Actress Sonam Kapoor says her character in upcoming film 'Khoobsurat' represents the independent, modern woman and is confident that girls will identify with it.

'Khoobsurat', also starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and actress-politician Kirron Kher, is the remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1980 film of the same name. Sonam reprises the character played by Rekha in the original.

"Mili is a woman of today. She is strong and independent and does not change herself for any man. Every modern day girl will relate to her. I am sure at least 85 per cent of women will identify with Mili," Sonam told reporters here.

The 29-year-old actress said though she was initially upset that she was playing a character close to her real personality, she is happy it is far from stereotypes.

"I was upset with my role initially because I am just like her. I thought what would my fans think of me. I am as clumsy as my on-screen character. I am a complete misfit in real life but it is not a typical character and I like that about it," Sonam said. (PTI)
