Eight killed in Moroccan car crash

Rabat, Morocco  -  Eight people were killed when a police truck collided with a private car on the road between Meknes and Khenifra in northern Morocco, radio reports said Monday.

All the eight occupants of the car were killed and the two police officers inside the truck were seriously injured in the head-on crash, which occurred when a tyre burst on the car on Sunday.

On the same day, one person was killed and five were injured, four of them seriously, when a car turned over in Settat 250 south of the capital Rabat.

More than 4,000 people were killed in Moroccan road accidents in 2007. (dpa)
