Murthy asked woman to quit iGate after getting her pregnant

Murthy asked woman to quit iGate after getting her pregnantPhaneesh Murthy, the sacked chief executive officer of iGate Corp has allegedly asked a woman to quit the software service firm after he found out that she was pregnant from him.

Araceli Roiz, a former head of investor relations at iGate Corp accused him of asking her to leave the company after he found that she was pregnant by him. Murthy also asked Roiz to terminate the pregnancy in order to save his position as the Chief Executive Officer, claimed California-based law firm Aiman-Smith & Marcy said in a statement on Thursday. Attorneys at Aiman-Smith & Marcy had already managed sexual harassment cases against Murthy involving Reka Maximovitch and Jennifer Griffith.

"When Ms Roiz refused to have an abortion, Mr. Murthy attempted to get her to leave the company and keep their relationship a secret. It was not until after Ms Roiz refused to do so and informed him that she would be seeking legal representation and her lawyers contacted Mr. Murthy's counsel that he reluctantly informed the board of the relationship, just before the board would have learned on its own from other sources," the law firm said in a statement.

Murthy responded by saying that he cannot offer any comments as the matter is heading for the lawsuit.
