ICC appoints Sunil Bharti as Vice-Chairman
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has announced that it has appointed Sunil Bharti Mittal, the Chairman and Group CEO of Bharti Enterprises, as the Vice-Chairman of the business group.
"Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Group CEO, Bharti Enterprises has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC),"the company said.
Mr. Mittal become the third Indian to be appointed to the Executive Board of the ICC. The statement showed that earlier, late Bharat Ram was the first Indian on the executive board while Late Hari Shankar Singhania was the second Indian to be appointed to ICC.
Mittal said that the organisation has been playing an important part in reducing trade barriers across the world and economic opportunity. He also said that he will work towards the goals of the organisation and towards addressing the needs of the international business community. The ICC World Council met in Doha, Qatar to appoint the new leaders of the group.
Sunil Mittal said, "ICC is playing an important role in driving global economic growth by reducing barriers to trade and economic opportunity. I look forward to working with the distinguished members of the ICC towards taking forward this agenda and addressing the needs of the international business community."
ICC was formed as early as 1919 and it represents private-sector views to national Governments and inter-governmental bodies in a host of countries across the world.
